Speaker of the Lower House Visits Audit Bureau, Emphasizing the Importance of Strengthening Audit and Accountability Approaches

In the spirit of the ongoing cooperation and coordination among various authorities, led by the legislative authority, today, Mr. Ahmad Alsafadi, The Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House), along with Dr. Namer Al-Sleihat, the head of the Finance Committee, visited the Audit Bureau to discuss several audit-related matters.

At the outset of the meeting, the President of the Audit Bureau, Dr. Radhi Al-Hamadeen, briefed on the development plans being implemented by the Bureau, especially following the recent launch of its strategic plan for the years 2024-2027, This strategic endeavor is founded on the visionary directives of His Majesty the King aimed at reforming the public sector. Dr. Al-Hamadeen commended the role of the Lower House, represented by the Speaker and all committees, for their eminent cooperation and support for the Bureau’s work, especially in the field of audit, considering the Bureau as the regulatory arm of the general assembly.

Dr. Al-Hamadeen explained that the Bureau will withdraw from Ex-ante Auditing, including participation in all committees, especially those concerning tenders and procurement, by the end of the current year. This step aligns with international standards, aiming to grant responsible parties the autonomy to act and decide, In light of this, the Bureau will shift its focus to conducting Ex-Post Auditing, adhering to international best practices. Additionally, efforts are underway to enhance the methodology for preparing audit reports, focusing on materiality, and strengthening both audit tasks and internal control units within audited entities.

In turn, Mr. Alsafadi stressed the importance of continuous coordination between the Lower House and the Audit Bureau, emphasizing that the Lower House is fully open to formalizing cooperation between the two entities. He stressed the need to explore new methods and mechanisms to activate and enhance the pace of coordination, all in the service of our beloved Jordan interests and its citizens. Furthermore, Mr. Alsafadi highlighted the significance of the Audit Bureau's audit of the Lower House, suggesting that it should serve as a model for other governmental entities subject to the Bureau's audit in responding to audit findings.

Conclusively, Mr. Alsafadi emphasized the Lower House's full support for the Audit Bureau's strategic plan and the development methodologies it currently implements, noting that the Lower House consistently stands behind the institutional work carried out by the Bureau
