Prime minister receives Audit Bureau’s 2024 report

AMMAN —

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Tuesday received the Audit Bureau’s 2024 report, reiterating the government’s support for the bureau’s oversight role in safeguarding public funds and strengthening integrity and transparency.

Hassan received the report during a meeting with Audit Bureau President Radi Hamadin at the Prime Ministry, commending the bureau’s efforts in monitoring the performance of public institutions and praising the new methodology adopted in preparing the report.

He stressed the government’s commitment to supporting the bureau’s work and cooperating to address all identified violations within the legal framework, according to a Prime Ministry statement.

The prime minister also underlined the importance of conducting regular follow-ups on the bureau’s observations and addressing them promptly to prevent their accumulation, ensure compliance with the law and protect public funds.

For his part, Hamadin briefed Hassan on the report’s main findings, noting that the bureau’s new approach focuses on strengthening pre-emptive oversight, reducing violations and reinforcing the national integrity system.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Fayez Qudah.

Senate President Faisal Fayez also received the report during a meeting at the Senate headquarters with Hamadin and senior bureau officials. Fayez praised the bureau’s adoption of best oversight practices in line with international standards, aimed at protecting public funds and addressing imbalances in public institutions under its supervision.

He emphasised the importance of continued cooperation between the Senate and the Audit Bureau and providing the necessary support to enable the bureau to carry out its duties with professionalism and high standards.

Hamadin expressed appreciation for the Senate’s continued support, reaffirming the bureau’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with the Senate and its committees in a manner that serves the national interest and strengthens integrity and transparency.

Meanwhile, Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi also received the 2024 report during a meeting with Hamadin, stressing the importance of the bureau’s oversight role in protecting public funds and reaffirming parliament’s full support for its independence and mandate.

Hamadin outlined the main cases and violations contained in the report, highlighting the importance of keeping parliament informed of irregularities identified across all institutions subject to the bureau’s oversight.
